The Hindi version of ‘Drishyam 2’ has been in terrific form since its theatrical release last Friday. The mystery thriller film is doing wonders at the box-office and has already become one of the highest grossing Hindi films of the year. It’s expected to breach the coveted 100 crore mark within just a week of its release in India. The film is being unanimously admired by critics and audiences alike.
And if all that admiration isn’t enough, ‘Drishyam 2’ has achieved another feat in such a short time. The movie has made a stylish entry on IMDb’s highest rated Indian films list of all time. Currently, it holds an impressive Rank 128 on the top 250 Indian films list on IMDb. Its IMDb user rating as of now is a brilliant 8.9/10.
But, has the Hindi remake also managed to outrank Jeethu Joseph’s cult sequel starring Mohanlal? The answer is no. Because the Malayalam film ‘Drishyam 2’ (2021) is currently way ahead of the Hindi version and holds Rank 27 on the IMDb list. It remains to be seen whether the Hindi remake ‘Drishyam 2’ could possibly surpass the Malayalam film in the near future.
Currently, the highest ranked Indian movie from 2022 on IMDb top 250 Indian movies list is the Kannada blockbuster ‘Kantara’ (Rank 2) followed by ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ (Rank 3), ‘777 Charlie’ (Rank 5), ‘Sita Ramam’ (Rank 32), ‘Vikram’ (Rank 59), ‘Jana Mana Gana’ (Rank 107), ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’ (Rank 117), ‘KGF 2’ (Rank 139), ‘Major’ (Rank 167), ‘RRR’ (Rank 189), and ‘Hridayam (Rank 205).
Helmed by Abhishek Pathak, ‘Drishyam 2’ takes place around seven years after the incredible events of the first film. The basic plot revolves around Vijay Salgaonkar’s (Ajay Devgn) family, who is still living under the fear of the impending consequences of the police investigation for the senior cop’s (Tabu) missing son. When the investigation comes back again to haunt his family and with a new cop (Akshaye Khanna) on his trail, the protagonist tries to deal with the situation with his sharp intellect to protect his family once again.
