The makers of the Hindi remake of Mohanlal starrer riveting mystery thriller film ‘Drishyam 2’ have just announced the commencement of filming for the highly anticipated film starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role. ‘Drishyam 2’ is a sequel to the Hindi version of ‘Drishyam’ which came out in the year 2015.
While Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Drishyam’ was adeptly helmed by Nishikant Kamat, however, after his unfortunate demise in 2020, the sequel ‘Drishyam 2’ is being directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhishek Pathak, whose last directorial film was the social comedy ‘Ujda Chaman’. The sequel’s shooting schedule has already kicked off in Mumbai and like the first film, it will be substantially shot in Goa.
The first film ‘Drishyam’ featured Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar – a 4th-grade pass ordinary but street-smart cable network owner and a diehard movie buff. His life takes a drastic turn when his family is accused by the police of the suspected murder of the missing son of a senior cop (Tabu). How the desperate father hatches a brilliant plan to save his family forms the film’s underlying premise.
The sequel ‘Drishyam 2’ will take place seven years after the incredible events of the first film. The basic plot would ostensibly revolve around Vijay’s family, who is still living under the fear of the impending consequences of the police investigation for the senior cop’s missing son. When the investigation comes back again to haunt his family, the protagonist tries to deal with the situation to protect his family.
Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam 2’ is not the first remake of the parent Malayalam film starring Mohanlal. Because previously, ‘Drishyam 2’ has already been made in Kannada and Telugu languages. The Kannada remake was helmed by P.Vasu and starred Ravichandran in the lead role. While the Telugu version was helmed by the parent film’s director Jeethu Joseph and featured Venkatesh in the lead role.
