Drive Fiasco Leads To New Rules For All Concerned Parties

Drive is a disaster for everyone associated with it. However, the way it has been dumped into Netflix for streaming had led many parties aggrieved and taking stern decisions.

Sushanth Singh Rajput, the lead actor of Drive, is the most hurt with the release. When he signed the film, it was for a theatrical release. The last-minute decision to give a digital release has not gone well with him. It could be seen with him disassociating from the movie.

What Sushanth is doing next is where the impact of the Drive can be felt. He is now reportedly adding a new clause in his contract before a signing a film that he is not comfortable with having an online debut for his movie when it is supposed to arrive theatrically. If the makes have a plan of non-theatrical release, he (Sushanth) must be aware beforehand.

Similarly, Netflix too feels that they have been misled into getting Drive. They simply picked the movie on the good faith of the relationship with Karan Johar. Post the release, the drubbing the movie has got made them realise that the film was ‘dumped’ on them. Netflix promises that it won’t be the case henceforth and that there would be a quality check.
