Driving License is about an unexpected clash between a superstar and a common man, who happens to be a Motor Vehicle Inspector. What happens when the star (played by Prithviraj) wants to renew his driving license is the basic story of the film.
The writing by Sachy has come under immense praise with many critics comparing it to the best from the golden age of Malayalam cinema. The milieu has been wonderfully captured that not only helps in entertaining the audience, but also giving them a sense of fulfilment, emotionally. It does so without being overdramatic.
Lal Jr directs Driving License. The key to the film’s success besides writing is the performances. They are uniformly well done. The relatability of the movie with a ‘meta’ angle to it is what makes Driving License unique. Amazon Prime Video, which has recently acquired some of the best Malayalam movies, is streaming the film.
