Dulquer Salmaan Doesn’t Like The Idea Of OTT Films?

Incredibly talented Dulquer Salmaan is gearing up for his upcoming Netflix series, “Guns & Gulaabs”. The show, directed by the renowned duo Raj and DK, is set to premiere tomorrow, on Netflix India.

Raj and DK, often referred to as the “blockbuster machine” of OTT platforms, have already etched their names in the industry with remarkable shows like “The Family Man” and “Farzi”. Their unique storytelling style and gripping narratives have made them household names among Indian viewers.

“Guns & Gulaabs” boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, Gulshan Devaiah, and the charismatic Dulquer Salmaan himself. This star-studded lineup promises to deliver a blend of action, drama, and entertainment.

Interestingly, during the promotional rounds for the show, Dulquer Salmaan shared his views on the streaming landscape. He expressed a preference for movies to be exclusively reserved for the big screens, emphasizing his love for the cinematic experience. This sentiment echoes the sentiments of many who appreciate the grandeur and shared immersion that only a theater can provide. However, Salmaan holds a contrary opinion when it comes to series, voicing his approval for OTT platforms to produce and distribute them.

He said, “Sometimes when a film doesn’t find acceptance in theaters, people say, ‘This was an OTT film.’ When a film becomes massive online, the chatter is, ‘This should have been released in theaters.’ Who decides that? I’m hoping we can continue to draw audiences to theaters. Some films need encouragement [by way of footfall, otherwise] there might come a time when they won’t get made. All kinds of films must get made. Maybe we’ll reach a time where OTT will have only shows, and films will be largely theaters.”
