Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup Drops First Single In Multiple Languages!

A week ago, it was announced that Dulquer Salmaan‘s highly anticipated crime thriller, ‘Kurup‘ will premiere in theatres on November 12th 2021. When the announcement was made, we knew that a new teaser or a trailer for this upcoming Malayalam feature is just around the corner – and we were somewhat correct. Wayfarer Films, the production company behind ‘Kurup’ released the official single on the official YouTube pages of Saregama, mere minutes ago. What’s more, this song has been released in multiple languages – including in Tamil and Hindi as well. Check out the Tamil version at the end of this article.

‘Kurup’ is a film based on the real life Indian fugitive, Sukumara Kurup. Back in 1984, he is presumed to have killed a man named Chacko, who looked very similar to Kurup in appearance and used Chacko’s death as a way of faking his own death. He then deceived authorities and collected insurance money of around ₹8 lakh (US$11,000), using Chacko’s dead body as his own dead body. Kurup is currently India’s longest wanted fugitive, being missing since 1984.

While this song is not the teaser/trailer that we have all been waiting for, it is a good enough promo for this week. With most of the Malayalam crowd (the film’s primary audience) already having a general idea about behind the film’s story, a basic trailer could very likely ruin the story. Still, knowing Malayalam filmmakers, we are very likely, going to get a more convoluted promotional video as a trailer for this film – and many will flock to that video just as many did for these songs.
