Popular OTT platform SonyLIV is riding high after the widespread admiration for its recently released web series ‘Rocket Boys’. Besides, the streaming service is also home to titles such as ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Tabbar’, ‘Undekhi’, and ‘Maharani’, amongst others. And now, another eagerly anticipated Malayalam film ‘Salute’ starring Dulquer Salmaan is set to bypass its theatrical release and will soon directly start streaming on the SonyLIV OTT platform this month itself.
Helmed by Rosshan Andrrews (Director – Prathi Poovankozhi, Kayamkulam Kochunni), ‘Salute’ features Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role of a committed police sub-inspector named Aravind Karunakaran.
The investigative drama movie revolves around the protagonist cop who gets involved in the investigation of the killing of a middle-aged couple. After realizing that an innocent person has wrongly been accused of the crime, he makes it his mission to nab the real culprit.
Bollywood actress Diana Penty stars opposite Dulquer Salmaan in the film. While the film’s editing is done by legendary editor Sreekar Prasad (Dil Chahta Hai, Saathiya, Yuva, Mangal Pandey, Guru, Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf, and many more). Moreover, this is the first time Dulquer Salmaan will be essaying the role of a police officer.
Although ‘Salute’ is expected to stream on SonyLIV in the month of March, however, currently, the precise streaming date for the film is not yet officially confirmed.
Dulquer Salmaan was last seen in the biographical crime drama ‘Kurup’. Besides ‘Salute’, his forthcoming acting projects include R. Balki’s directorial ‘Chup’, the multi-starrer untitled film (co-starring Fahadh Faasil, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas), the period film ‘Othiram Kadakam’, action movie ‘King of Kotha’, and Amal Neeerad’s crime film ‘Bilal’, amongst others.
