Zendaya wants to return as Chani in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 3. However, the acclaimed helmer may take a long time to bestow the third instalment to the fans.
Euphoria fame Zendaya has talked about her potential return to Dune 3 in a recent interview with Fandango. The Emmy Award-winning actress is ready to collaborate with Denis Villeneuve for the third entry. However, she also teased the complications related to the project.
“Whenever he [Villeneuve] is ready. I know he’s a perfectionist in many ways and doesn’t want to share things unless he’s fully ready to do that. So, I’m respecting that and waiting until he’s ready.”
Dune: Part Two will cover the second half of Frank Herbert’s Dune novel (1965). Fans will witness Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) continuing his journey of vengeance against the Harkonnens and forging an alliance with the Fremen. Amidst all the chaos, he falls in love with Chani and gains more control over his powers.
Fans may have to wait for a long time to get Dune 3 in theatres. The third entry will supposedly adapt Dune Messiah (1969), which takes place 12 years after the events of the first novel. It means that it is logically not possible for Villeneuve to commence Part Three’s production right after the second part. Plus, he is well-known for his perfectionism. So, there is no need for him to start working on Dune 3 right now. The time jump in Messiah’s story needs all the actors to look like the older selves of their respective characters.
However, a lot also depends upon how much pressure Warner Bros put on Denis Villeneuve for Dune 3. Despite the COVID-19 restrictions, Part One minted over $400 globally, which was impressive. And the upcoming Part Two will surely outperform its 2021 predecessor, given all the hype it has with it. Let’s see how long Warner Bros can wait for the third part. Stay tuned for more updates.
