Dune Part Two offered us a visual experience like never before; Denis Villeneuve is definitely continuing his legacy. Dune Part Two wasn’t just successful in terms of the quality of the visuals; its box office run has been too exciting to miss as well.
But for the Indian audience, there lie a couple of problems. Firstly, the audience gets too little exposure to the original English audio. Though regional audio is important for a diverse audience like India’s, the less screening of the original audio practically pushes the fans away.
Secondly, it is about the VOD and OTT release of such films. India does come out as an afterthought as the nation is one of the very last to witness big caliber films like Dune Part Two on the big screens.
But the makers are setting up an exception. Dune Part Two is coming to the Indian audience on the same day as its global VOD release.
Dune 2 is now being advertised on BookMyShow stream; it will be available to be streamed from April 16th, and the price tag isn’t looking cheap. Pre-rent is for ₹499, and pre-buy is for ₹799.
Now, the studios didn’t really change their heart but can just a panic move to neutralize the leaks, but VOD won’t really do the job. Especially with that ginormous price point, it will be practically impossible for the fans to watch it on VOD.
So, wait for some weeks as it just comes to the regular OTT real soon.
