Dune Prophecy Trying To Capitalise On Star Wars?

Frank Herbert’s “Dune” and George Lucas’s “Star Wars”, both of them have grand narratives, epic battles and most importantly “Prophecies”.

But does that make “Dune Prophecy” and “Star Wars” similar?

The major difference between them is the very concept of “Prophecy”, where “Star Wars” keeps a very optimistic view about the prophecy, which is to bring balance to the force, but Dune’s prophecy is used as a to trigger a holy wars and political upheavals.

Ultimately, Dune critiques the dangers of absolute power and blind faith, while Star Wars celebrates the possibility of redemption and the hero’s journey.

Now, Emily Watson who plays a pivotal role in “Dune Prophecy”, who previously said, “It’s not like Star Wars” she pointed out that in “Dune Prophecy” every character is complex and grey unlike “Star Wars” where every character is either black or White.

She clarifies her statement by saying, “ Don’t get me wrong, I love Star Wars. I’m a huge Star Wars fan. But we’re in a universe where there isn’t ‘right’ anymore. There aren’t goodies and baddies. Everything is relative.”

Now we that being said, we know that the world of “Dune” and “Star Wars” are two different domains, expanding itself with their own prophecies.
