Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam Is A “Make Or Break” Deal For DCEU

We are inching closer to Black Adam’s release with every passing day. The Dwayne Johnson starrer is all set to hit the theatres globally on October 21. The leading man has gone the extra mile to promote his upcoming project. Maybe a bit too extra? Oh yes, we will address this issue as well in this article. But we know one thing for sure. Black Adam will leave its impact on DCEU’s future. How? Let’s find out!

Dwayne Johnson is a man of many talents. From electrifying countless WWE arenas to becoming one of the highest-grossing actors in Hollywood, the actor has done it all. And now, fans will see him portraying Shazam’s arch-rival in the upcoming DCEU entry. Some fans believe that he is perfect for the antihero character. Others are just relieved that he finally decided to take a break (even if it’s momentary) from ‘jungle’ movies.

Black Adam almost made a special appearance in the first Shazam movie. But thanks to Johnson, he ended up getting his own film. Love or hate him, but we cannot deny that his character’s powers (also his name and fame) will significantly expand the DC universe.

Dedicating an entire project to Black Adam sounds great actually. Most of the DC projects have focused only on the members of the Justice League. It is nice to see that they have started exploring other exciting DC characters as well. Right now, DCEU needs a lot of things to mend itself. One of them is freshness. And Black Adam certainly helps in bringing freshness to the superhero franchise.

Now, the time has come to answer this question: “Why do we need a guy like Dwayne Johnson to portray Black Adam?”

Well, Black Adam is not as globally prominent as other Justice League members. It is quite understandable why DC chose Dwayne Johnson for the antihero character. He is popular, charismatic, confident (maybe a tad too much?), and a buffed-up guy. All these qualities make him perfect for the role of Black Adam. And they have certainly helped in creating a lot of hype among the people.

But here’s where things get spicy! A large portion of superhero fans does not want Johnson to play the antihero. In fact, they hate his guts. Many believe that his overconfidence or attempts to make the entire DCEU about Black Adam will sabotage the superhero franchise for good.

While promoting DC League of Super-Pets, the actor shared an Instagram post, hinting at the Black Adam cameo in the film, with the caption: “At @sevenbucksprod we have major plans to build out the BLACK ADAM DC UNIVERSE and now the DC SUPER PETS UNIVERSE with our partners @wbpictures & @dccomics – and SUPER PETS & BLACK ADAM is just the beginning.”

Johnson might have been a bit too enthusiastic while sharing the above-mentioned post. But it certainly enraged a lot of DC fans. Some of them even questioned the meaning of “BLACK ADAM DC UNIVERSE”. Also, they blamed him for Henry Cavill not returning to DCEU.

Fans believed that DC would light up this year’s SDCC event with major announcements. Instead, the franchise only offered the teasers of ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ and ‘Black Adam’ to them.

We believe it is safe to say that DCEU’s future depends on Black Adam. If the film finds success (financially and critically), everyone will remain happy. Otherwise… How about we try not to imagine that chaotic and pathetic scenario? The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Viola Davis, and many more. Stay tuned for more updates.
