Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise is reportedly posting good revenues at the box offices, notwithstanding the rather weak reviews it had garnered. The film is faring pretty well in the domestic and as well as overseas circuit. Now, there are several speculative developments pertaining to Pushpa’s OTT outing. There are reports claiming that Pushap: The Rise will be going for early OTT release and the film will be made available for streaming on its digital streaming partner Amazon Prime Video from the 7th of January, which is weeks post its theatrical release.
Well, it needs to be said that an early OTT release for Pushpa: The Rise looks highly unlikely. The film is doing relatively well at the box office as the lukewarm reviews are having little to no effect on the theatrical revenues of the Allu Arjun starrer. Moreover, it is common for Allu Arjun’s films to get mixed reviews but then put on a good show at the box office. Those who have been closely following Allu Arjun’s Tollywood career will be aware of the same. With no direct competition in Telugu till RRR’s release – 7th January, Pushpa might be in for a fruitful run at the box office. Also, it would be an embarrassment of sorts if a project of Pushpa’s scale goes for an early OTT release. Allu Arjun, Sukumar, and the rest of the core crew will be against the same.
All factors combined, Pushpa: The Rise might not be getting an early OTT release. The makers could well permit the OTT outing prospect at least 4 weeks from the theatrical release. Ideally, it would be 6 weeks or more, given the scale of the project and theatrical investments.
Pushpa: The Rise is directed by Sukumar and it has Rashmika Mandanna in the female lead role. It is a rugged forest-based action drama.
