Ek Ruka Hua Faisla: Basu Chatterjee Classic To Get A Remake!

Another Bollywood classic to have a remake. The legal drama ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ will now be adapted to a film with actors like Atul Kulkarni, Neeraj Kabi, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and more.

‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ is a Basu Chatterjee film that came out in 1986 and was a huge critical success. The movie told the story of a murder trial where twelve jury members debate about a murder and the possible criminal. Only one among the jury believes that the convict is not guilty and he tries to convince the others about the same. The movie had a stellar cast with actors like Deepak Qazir Kejriwal, Amitabh Srivastav, Pankaj Kapur, S. M. Zaheer, Subhash Udgata, Hemant Mishra, M. K. Raina, K. K. Raina, Annu Kapoor etc. ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ was actually a remake of the acclaimed Hollywood movie ’12 Angry Men’. ’12 Angry Men’ was directed by Sidney Lumet and the film itself was an adaptation of a teleplay.

The screenplay of the movie is written by Barnali Ray Shukla and it is being directed by Darshan Ashwin Trivedi. Atul Kulkarni, Neeraj Kabi, Divyendu Bhattacharya are some of the actors that will play the juries. There are other actors in the film like Divya Dutta, Surinder Vikki, Vineet Kumar, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Manu Rishi Chaddha etc.

The shooting will commence in December this year and the movie will probably be out by early next year. ‘Ek Ruka Hua Faisla’ is being produced by Dharnidhar Production and Twenty21 Studios.
