Emmys 2021: HBO-HBO Max Grab 130 Nominations, Netflix Wins 129 Noms! Here’s The Full List!

The nominations for the Emmy Awards 2021 have just been announced today. TV audiences will be glad to know that there are not many surprises in the list of nominations. Most well-received shows and their lead actors that have been tipped to win noms at the 73rd Emmys have come good on their promise.

The combination of HBO and HBO Max beat stiff competition from Netflix to grab 130 nominations at the Emmys 2021. Netflix was just one behind them with 129 nods. Disney Plus grabbed an eye-popping 71 nods – its debut Marvel series WandaVision hit the sweet spot with 23 nods, just one behind top-scorers – Netflix’s “The Crown” and Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian” both of which snared 24 nods each.

Hulu made its presence felt with 21 nominations for its flagship show “The Handmaid’s Tale”, while Apple TV Plus made a splash with 20 nominations for “Ted Lasso“. Ironically, the recently cancelled HBO show “Lovecraft Country” snagged 18 noms.

Among performers, WandaVision leads Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen won well-deserved acting noms. Kate Winslet won a nomination for her sublime portrayal of Mare in Mare Of Easttown, as did Anya Taylor-Joy for Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. Kathryn Hahn won a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Limited Series, for WandaVision, sending her fans into a happy tizzy.

Father-daughter duo, Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones, are joined by Television Academy chairman and CEO Frank Scherma to announce the nominations. The father-daughter set a record last year of being the first such pair to win performance Emmy Awards in the same year.

The Emmy Awards, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, will air live on September 19 on CBS, and live-stream on Paramount+.
