Emmys 2022 Nominations: ‘Succession’ Sweeps The Show!

The nominees for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Tuesday morning (Tuesday evening India time) by J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Unlike recent years when streaming behemoth Netflix pipped content giant HBO in the network with the maximum nominations, this year it is a clean sweep by HBO – HBO Max combine.

HBO’s blockbuster show ‘Succession‘ bagged an eye-catching 25 nominations for the 74th Emmy Awards. Apple TV Plus success ‘Ted Lasso‘ followed closely with 20 nominations, tying with HBO’s ‘The White Lotus’ which also bagged 20 nominations.

Other shows to grab sizeable nominations today include HBO Max’s Hacks, with 17 noms, Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building with 17 noms, HBO’s Euphoria with 16 noms, HBO’s Barry with 14 noms, Hulu show Dopesick with 14 noms, Apple TV Plus’ Severance with 14 noms, Netflix’s Squid Game, also with 14 noms, Netflix’s Ozark and Stranger Things with 13 noms each, Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 12 noms, and Hulu’s Pam & Tommy with 10 noms.

Disney Plus is the one streaming biggie which failed to make much of a nominations splash this evening.

The 74th Emmy Awards will be held on September 12, which is when we’ll know which platform and show reigns supreme in the TV awards stakes this year.
