English actor Theo James who received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Tobias Eaton in the futuristic sci-fi thriller Divergent film franchise, could be back on the Emmy nominations list for his charming performance in Guy Ritchie’s gangster dramedy, ‘The Gentleman’.
This comes after he acquired his first spot on last year’s list as well for his role in Mike White’s acclaimed HBO/Max drama series “The White Lotus”. With a potential chance at taking home the ‘Outstanding Lead Actor In a Comedy Series’, James can extend his success in the comedic genre.
According to the awards’ rules, at least 80 submissions are necessary to nominate six candidates, where the number increases to 160 for seven and 240 or more for eight nominations. This rule intensifies the competition in this category, as both leading men from Hulu’s ‘Only Murders In The Building’, Steve Martin and Martin Short are expected to secure spots on the exclusive nominee list.
Other conceivable nominees are: Emmy-winning Jeremy Allen White for FX’s ‘The Bear’ and Larry David for his role in the final season of the long-running and critically acclaimed sitcom “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO/Max.
With a tough, neck-to-neck battle, which performance will receive the coveted Award? Stay tuned to find out!
