‘English Premier League’ Inks Huge Deal for Its Broadcasting Rights!

Sporting events and leagues have taken a bit hit during the pandemic as most of these clubs have lost a lot of revenue due to the pandemic and the various restrictions that had to be imposed because of it. Major clubs lost on to matchday revenues as fans were not allowed and that put a major dent in their earnings along with some other obstacles.

A ‘Super-League’ was also being proposed due to the major financial repercussions that the clubs have to face and keeping them afloat in such times seem to be a gargantuan task. The ‘Premier League’ has announced its $7 B deal with Sky, Amazon, and BT Sport to get the UK rights to the hugely popular football league.

With this deal in place Amazon, BT Sport, and Sky can Broadcast live matches of the Premier League until 2025. It was agreed to roll over its $5 B deal in principle to $7 B. A roll over deal meant that the rights were never put to an auction so there weren’t any new bidders or parties involved.

There were reports that other streamers may be interested and there were also concerns that this may well result in a deal that could be less than the $5 B deal which was set in 2018. This could have been a huge problem for Premier League clubs as many of them are already struggling to stay functional amongst all the problems that have taken place recently.

This goes to show that every sector has had to face the consequences of this pandemic financially but maybe this boost can help make things more stable and hopefully the fans will be able to go to the matches and support their team with passion once again but until then all of us must take the appropriate care to keep ourselves and those around us safe.
