Erin Doherty Joins Disney+’s ‘A Thousand Blows’ From ‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator

‘The Crown’ star Erin Doherty who played the role of Princess Anne in the Netflix royal drama has now joined the cast of Disney+’s period drama ‘A Thousand Blows’.

She will play the role of Marry Carr, leader of the Forty Elephants and will be joining the previously revealed series lead Malachi Kirby and Stephen Graham. Other newly added cast members includes Jason Tobin and James Nelson-Joyce.

‘A Thousand Blows’ is set in the world of illegal boxing in 1880s Victorian London. Hezekiah (Kirby) and best friend Alex (Francis Lovehall) find themselves thrust into the vibrant and violent melting pot of post-industrial revolution London’s East End, meeting Carr (Doherty) and seasoned boxer Sugar Goodson (Graham) along the way.

The Disney+ series comes from ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight who will lead the writing team comprising of Ameir Brown, Insook Chappell, Harlan Davies and Yasmin Joseph.

‘A Thousand Blows’ will consist of 12 episodes with Ashley Walters (‘Topboy’) and Coky Giedroyc serving as series directors. Ting Krishnan is the lead director and executive producer of the series.

The Story Collective has jointly produced ’A Thousand Blows’ alongside Matriarch Productions and Water & Power Productions. ‘A Thousand Blows’ will premiere soon on Disney.
