Ethan Coen’s long-gestating ‘Drive-Away Dolls’ has a release date. The upcoming lesbian road trip comedy will release on September 22 this year. Working Title Films has produced the project, with Focus Features and Universal handling the distribution.
Coen will make his solo directional debut with ‘Drive-Away Dolls’. He is best known for partnering with his brother, Joel Coen, for several iconic flicks, such as Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), No Country For Old Men (2007), True Grit (2010), The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018), and many more. His brother, Joel, made his solo directional debut with The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021), released on the Apple TV+ platform.
The upcoming Ethan Coen’s directional will revolve around a free-spirited girl, Jamie, who wants to get over her breakup by going on a road trip to Tallahassee with her ordinary buddy Marian. However, everything changes after the duo encounters a group of amateurish criminals.
Ethan wrote the film’s screenplay with his wife, Tricia Cooke. The husband-wife duo also serves as the film’s producers, along with Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan.
Drive-Away Dolls stars Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Pedro Pascal, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Bill Camp, and Matt Damon.
