Euphoria Season 3 Gets A Disappointing Update From HBO

HBO’s CEO, Casey Bloys, has given a disappointing update about the highly-anticipated Euphoria Season 3. The globally prominent high school drama series has received two seasons so far. In February 2022, HBO renewed the show for a third season.

According to Deadline, Euphoria Season 3 is yet to get a production date from HBO. The delay in the production of the Zendaya starrer is “because there’s a lot of schedules that we have to align,” said Bloys. Although, the HBO executive has assured the fans that creator Sam Levinson “is busy writing” the third entry.

Euphoria was renewed for Season 3 nearly two years ago. Yet, we do not have any update about its production. One of the primary reasons behind this scenario (also noted by Bloys) is the busy schedules of the show’s actors. For instance, the leading lady, Zendaya, was busy filming Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two and Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers. The supporting cast members, such as Sydney Sweeney (Madame Web, Reality, and Anyone But You), Jacob Elordi (Priscilla and Saltburn), and Hunter Schafer (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes), were busy with their respective schedules too in the last two years.

In addition, Angus Cloud (known for playing Fez) died in September 2023 due to an accidental drug overdose. His absence will surely impact Season 3’s storyline. The connection between Fez and Maude Apatow’s Lexi was one of the brightest points of Season 2. It is possible that Sam Levinson may bury this storyline out of respect for Cloud and may give Lexi a different direction in the next season. Stream all episodes of Euphoria on JioCinema.
