It is a really appreciable thing that our audience is evolving and they are not seeming to care about the usual baits like controversy. We know our statement can be proven wrong by any average controversial film like The Kerala Story. But, these exceptions need to be appreciated.
We are talking about Maharaj. The movie after a lot of headline making drama released on Netflix India. Made by Netflix India and Yash Raj Films, the movie marked the debut of Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan.
As we said multiple times, it is a pathetic unwatchable film. We will not delve into how bad it is, just keep in mind that it is too bad.
The data about views came and what is the news?
The film failed to even register its presence in the top 10 most watched non-English films of the last week. Yes, no matter how small or not-buzzy a film might be (like “Friday Night Plan”) they at least appear in the list at the 9th or 10th position.
With Maharaj, even that could not be possible. It is a tight slap at the face of Yash Raj Films that needs to focus on good scripts and films. It would be an absolute shame if YRF becomes limited to only the Spy Universe. There is a whole world of great content that the company can make use of.
Films like Maharaj shouldn’t be on their slate.
