Netflix has announced the launch of a new Scooby Doo live-action series coming from showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
Scooby Doo is a widely beloved character of pop culture and for over 50 years there have been more than a dozen animated series and three theatrical films made on it. So what’s new about this latest Netflix series?
Well, this one is supposed to take you back to where it all began to the terrifying case that kick started everything. This latest show is touted to be a modern reimagination of the iconic and eccentric group of teens and their dog solving mysteries and how they got together for the first time.
According to the official synopsis, “During their final summer at Camp Ruby-Spears, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever-so-handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
Made as part of the overall deal between Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Scooby Doo live action series at Netflix is executive produced by Rosenberg and Appelbaum, alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman for Berlanti Productions, and André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner for Midnight Radio.
