‘Evil Dead’ Actor Bruce Campbell Teases ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Cameo

Bruce Campbell, who instantly catapulted to fame with Sam Raimi’s horror franchise ‘Evil Dead’ trilogy is equally famous for his enjoyable cameos in the filmmaker’s directorial projects. These include his appearances in Sam Raimi’s superhero ‘Spiderman’ trilogy of films that featured Tobey Maguire essaying the titular role.

You might already be aware that eminent director Sam Raimi was roped in to direct a sequel to Benedict Cumberbatch’s 2016 ‘Doctor Strange’ film titled ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Since the sequel is ostensibly being surmised as MCU’s maiden venture into the superhero horror territory, Sam Raimi seemed to be the perfect choice to helm the project as the filmmaker has substantial experience of directing movies of both the superhero and the horror genres.

In a recent reply in relation to his forthcoming roles, Bruce Campbell hinted at a possible cameo in ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel by playfully stating that “maybe some movie with Sam Raimi that he might be directing. I can only give you a strange answer. I can answer that, but only with a strange answer. Am I in Doctor Strange 2? The strange answer is… linoleum.”

Regarding the alleged rumors of his ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel appearance, in another abstruse statement (via EW), Bruce Campbell said that “I would say that’s a pretty good rumor. I think that won’t get me sued. That’s a pretty good rumor, yeah. Look, I think it’s a standing rule that Sam Raimi, his movies are not good if I’m not in them. If Sam wants a good movie he’ll put me in it. But you never know [with] these epic movies what’s going to stay or go in the course of telling these huge stories, so I don’t know. That’s why I keep it cryptic because (a) I don’t want to get sued but (b) I don’t want to say, ‘Yeah, hey, tune in!’ and then they go, ‘Where were you, idiot?’ But I always enjoy working with my old friend, Mr. Director.”

Under the ambit of MCU’s Phase 4, ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ is expected for a theatrical release in March 2022. The story would ostensibly take place after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and will see Elizabeth Olsen and Rachael McAdams reprise their roles of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Christine Palmer respectively, besides of course, Benedict Cumberbatch.
