Chris Hemsworth starrer Extraction shattered all records at Netflix and has become the streaming giant’s biggest debut feature of all times. One character that caught the imagination of viewers in the movie was that of Amir Asif, the Bangladeshi mafia don. More than the character, viewers across the world were enamoured by Priyanshu Painyuli, the actor who played the role of the mafia lord. With his lanky frame and wayward hair, Priyanshu brought a certain edginess, a distinctive menace to the role.
Which is why his entry in the new season of Mirzapur makes for even more interesting possibilities. Will he be one of the good guys in Mirzapur Season 2? Or will he take his villainous streak forward and play the bad guy? Amazon Prime Video has given out no hints whatsoever about Priyanshu’s role in Mirzapur Season 2. Nor have the makers Excel Entertainment, or Priyanshu himself.
Mirzapur is one of the most loved Indian Originals on any OTT platform in the country. And its Season 2 is THE most anticipated follow up season of any show, in recent times. Fans of Mirzapur, which are humongous, let us tell you, have been waiting breathlessly for Season 2 to drop.
Now, with news of Priyanshu Painyuli having joined the cast in the new season, the excitement has certainly risen to a crescendo. Season 1 ended with the deaths of two crucial characters in the narrative. New entrants were a given, to take the story forward.
Mirzapur features a superb ensemble cast, comprising of Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Ali Fazal, Dibbyendu Sharma, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Duggal, Harshita Gaur, among others. It is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, and directed by Karan Anshuman, Gurmeet Singh and Mihir Desai.
