Yesterday, Prime Video started streaming a brand new film called Jalsa. It stars Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah in the lead role and the film is getting greatly appreciated by the audience. The biggest credit for this goes to the strong and soul-stirring performance by the leading ladies along with the moral dilemma it talks about.
But some Twitter users are campaigning against the film. When the Hindi film industry is not making many great films then Jalsa is an exceptionally brilliant example that definitely needs to be celebrated because of its content.
“The problem statement of #Jalsa is terrific. The resolution not so much. What if the young girl had died? When the character survives, the problem doesn’t remain that complex. The pursuit of justice takes a backseat. Nobody fights. Only inner-conflict remains to push the story.”
At first glance, it may seem like a natural criticism of the film at a very reasonable point. But it is anything but true. A lot of accounts are simply pasting this tweet and using it to campaign against the film.
If you closely notice then all the above three accounts have exactly the same tweet and there could be many more as well. It will be an intrestingly rare coincidence if all of them typed the exact same tweet. So this is a worthy observation that you as cinephiles must know.
Promoting cringeworthy films or depreciating good films is not a tough thing to do but best you all can do is to stick with genuine reviews to decide whether a film is worthy to watch.
