‘The Family Man’ directors Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK) are all set for their next directorial venture – a web series titled ‘Farzi’, which will start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from 10th February onwards. The series will be Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut and will also feature Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, Amol Palekar, and Regina Cassandra in pivotal roles.
After the massive success of ‘The Family Man’, expectations and the pressure on filmmaker duo Raj & DK to deliver another gripping and entertaining series are sky high. And just when fans were eagerly waiting for ‘Farzi’ trailer, which was supposed to be launched today, they were caught totally off-guard after a fake ‘Farzi’ trailer was released instead. The smart marketing move by the streaming platform and the makers of ‘Farzi’ seems to be in line with the show’s title and theme.
The fake trailer starts off with a Shahid Kapoor lookalike performing some amusingly cliched stunts. Soon after, the shoot is interrupted by the real Shahid Kapoor, who reveals that the real ‘Farzi’ trailer will be released soon – 13th January to be precise. So, we’ll have to wait for two more days to watch the ‘Asli’ trailer of ‘Farzi’. The marketing strategy has also created more curiosity and buzz for the upcoming show.
In ‘Farzi’ web series, Shahid Kapoor has essayed the role of a small-time artist who uses his very particular set of skills to design a con job in his grandfather’s printing press. But soon after, he is pursued by a relentless cop who is hellbent on putting an end to the high stakes con game. The web series is ostensibly set against the backdrop of counterfeit currency business and how the brilliant artist cons the system which favours wealthy people.
