South Star Ajith Kumar‘s much anticipated film ‘Valimai‘ is all set to release in January 2022 on the occasion of Pongal. Fans have been going crazy waiting for an official update regarding the film. The request for a teaser has been trending for quite some time with the hashtag, #ValimaiTeaser and the makers revealed that the teaser would be out this week, though the latest buzz is that the teaser is expected tomorrow (Thursday, 23rd Sept). News also doing the rounds is that a behind-the-scenes or making-of-the-movie clip may be released before the teaser, post which #ValimaiGlimpse began trending on Twitter. Regardless, fans are surely in for a treat this week and it looks like the anticipation is uncontrollable.
Interestingly, Ajith’s ‘Valimai’ was the most tweeted hashtag in India in the first half of 2021, followed by Vijay’s ‘Master’, such that both top positions were held by Tamil movies. The hype surrounding ‘Valimai’ and the actor’s fan base is truly commendable, since the movie has been repeatedly trending on consecutive days for quite some time, just in the hope of an update. What is truly fascinating is that without a single update until June, #Valimai still topped the list. Followers have even praised the star for having such an online presence without an official social media handle!
Written and directed by H Vinoth, ‘Valimai’ stars Ajith in the lead, along with Huma Qureshi and Kartikeya in pivotal roles. Produced by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor under his banner ‘Bayview Projects’, the movie also stars Pearle Maaney, comedian Yogi Babu and veteran actress Sumithra. ‘Valimai’ is a high-octane spy thriller, apparently set in the backdrop of the car-racing world and will see actor Kartikeya as the antagonist. It was also reported that corporate giant Zee Studios had bagged the film’s theatrical rights, satellite rights and post-theatrical digital rights of the Tamil version, though it is yet not clear if the Telugu version is also part of this deal. So ‘Valimai’ will officially stream on digital platform Zee5, post its theatrical run.
