Fans Of Élite Rejoice, Arōn Piper Is Back On Netflix

“The Mess You Leave Behind” will be streaming on Netflix from the 11th of December, 2020. Based on an award winning book of the same name in Spanish, written by Carlos Montera, this will be a limited series affair. With only eight episodes in stock, this series looks quite gripping already with the actors and their roles. The series revolves around how one handles grief, loss and guilt of losing someone.

Making a comeback to Netflix is our beloved Arōn Piper, who is remembered by fans of Élite very fondly as Ander. Already booked for the season 4 of Élite, Arōn is coming back sooner with “The Mess You Leave Behind” as a troubled teenager, again. The series though is quite intriguing as it looks onto the death of a teacher that occurred before the incidents of the series. The main protagonist is Raquel who is trying to make her marriage work and joins a school as a substitution teacher in the fictional town of Novariz, her husband’s birthplace. But for her, life becomes even tougher as she delves deeper into the haunting mystery of a death that took place before she joined.

The series follows a dual timeline, where a story is shown in the present and another story is shown in the flashback of a teacher named Viruca, who had quite a relationship with her students. In the present, Raquel is offered her position and she instantly starts getting threats. As she digs deeper she gets obsessed with the mystery of a dead woman and why she had to commit suicide. She faces the same troubles as her predecessor was facing and she takes it upon herself to solve the mystery.

With the show starting off as a drama it moves into the genre of a psychological thriller as the mystery of the death of Viruca starts unravelling. The show also addresses one very unnoticed topic, “the harassment of teachers by student”. It’s very odd to hear that, but it is very much prevalent and especially if someone falls prey to this and is not able to fight back, it can take a very disturbing turn for them. The series stars Imma Cuesta, Roberto Enriquez, Barbara Lennie, Tamar Novas, Aron Piper. It is directed by Carlos Montera and produced by Netflix and co-produced by Vasa Productions. This series is also Netflix’s first show to be completely shot in Galicia
