When the mystery thriller series ‘The Fame Game’ starring Madhuri Dixit in the lead role came out on Netflix, it received positive feedback from a wide segment of audiences. And soon, ‘The Fame Game’ also started trending on Netflix amongst the OTT platform’s top shows.
In the web series, Madhuri Dixit essayed the role of a reel life superstar Anamika Anand, a mother of two who suddenly disappears leaving no apparent leads. Thereafter, some uncomfortable and unknown truths are revealed during the course of the investigation.
However, recently, fans of the veteran Bollywood actress and the web series were in for an unpleasant surprise after some reports about the alleged cancellation of ‘The Fame Game’ Season-2 began circulating online. Some film analysts called it as Netflix India’s content correction and that the streaming service is having a relook at their portfolio.
But apparently, ‘The Fame Game S2’ cancellation buzz didn’t go down well with some OTT audiences. Several fans expressed their disappointment after reading these reports. One of the Twitterati even questioned Netflix about misleading people because ‘The Fame Game’ was once the top show on the streaming platform and that too for a few weeks. One fan also said that how can a popular and trending show not getting renewed for another season.
Having said that, the reports about the alleged cancellation of the second season of ‘The Fame Game’ hasn’t been confirmed by Netflix and the stakeholders yet. So, as of now, these reports may be rumours at best.
‘The Fame Game’ cancellation buzz happened around the same time when another admired Netflix show ‘Warrior Nun’ was cancelled by the streamer after two seasons. Although the fantasy show has a limited yet loyal fan base on OTT.
Coming back to ‘The Fame Game’, if the Season-2 cancellation buzz is indeed true, then Netflix should give some clarity on it along with the reason for the same so that all the unnecessary speculations can be laid to rest. Over to you, Netflix.
