A ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot movie is currently in the works and is slated for a theatrical release on 14th February 2025. The film will see the titular superheroes integrating into the Marvel Cinematic Universe aka MCU (Phase-6). It was previously revealed that the Emmy-nominated filmmaker Matt Shakman, who had directed the critically acclaimed Marvel superhero show ‘WandaVision’, was roped in to direct the high-profile Marvel movie.
And now, as per the latest update for the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ film, Matt Shakman has spilled the beans about when the project will kick-off its production. He has revealed that the filming schedule for the ‘Fantastic Four’ movie will begin in early 2024.
Earlier, the ‘Fantastic Four’ movie was to be directed by ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ helmer Jon Watts. However, he pulled out of the Marvel project apparently because he wanted a breather from directing superhero movies.
Until now, there is no confirmation yet about the story and who will play the four lead roles in the latest ‘Fantastic Four’ movie. But what is almost a certainty is that a new actor, who has not previously played Reed Richards, will be recruited for the next ‘Fantastic Four’ iteration. And that includes the fan-favorite John Krasinski, who was seen as an alternative rendition of Reed Richards in Sam Raimi’s ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’.
This is not the first time a ‘Fantastic Four’ movie is being made. Besides a low-budget, unreleased 1994 film titled ‘The Fantastic Four’, Tim Story had directed two films namely ‘Fantastic Four’ (2005) and ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ (2007). Both these films were box-office successes despite insipid reviews. Later, a reboot film ‘Fantastic Four’ came out in 2015 but it was rejected outright by audiences and critics and was a commercial failure as well.
Then, in March 2019, the movie rights for ‘Fantastic Four’ went back to Marvel and it was announced that the titular characters will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot.
