One of Netflix‘s latest releases is the second season of Fate: The Winx Saga. The teen fantasy drama is the live adaptation of the global hit Winx Club, an animated series.
The first season of the series was released on Netflix in 2021 and received mixed to negative responses. The fans were quite disappointed as the live adaptation was very different from the animated series with many of the main characters from the original not in it at all. Some claimed it would have been better had Netflix released the series as just another unrelated fantasy drama instead of describing it as the live adaptation of the beloved animated series.
The trailer of the second season, however, had reignited some curiosity among the fans. Fan- favorite Flora is set to be introduced in this season and with fans already coming to terms with the premise set by the first season, it is expected that Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2 would be more appreciated, both by critics and the fans.
Bloom, a seemingly normal human had in the first season, learned that she is a fairy and this has changed her life forever. She then goes to attend a magical boarding school in the Otherworld, where fairies are taught to master their magical powers. The adventures of Bloom and her friends at the school make for the basic plot of the series.
The first season ended in a cliffhanger and that too has generated buzz regarding the second season amongst the audience. Though the visual effects and the cinematography in the first season were appreciated, the same could not be said for the storyline. Many of the characters and their backstories were barely shown despite it being a series with ample time to do so. The makers have to give the audience a well-written plot to get the audience engaged and invested.
The nostalgia regarding the original animated series is something the makers have to be careful about while making a live adaptation of a series with an established fan base such as Winx Club. Some fans have watched the first season with a fresh mind to give the makers a fair chance. If the second season turns out to be as disappointing as the last one, they won’t be so forgiving and it would only go downhill from there for the series.
