The first season of fantasy web series ‘The Winter King’ is now streaming on SonyLIV. It is an historical fiction series developed by Kate Brooke and Ed Whitmore.
The show tells the story of Arthur Pendragon, a powerful warrior, who is banished from his kingdom in the post-Roman dark age Britain. The saxons have invaded his country and a child king rules there without any power. A warrior turned monk tells the story of how Arthur regains his throne despite his illegitimacy.
The series stars actors like Lain De Caestecker, Stuart Campbell, Ellie James, Steven Elder, Valene Kane, Simon Merrells, Ken Nwosu, Olumide Olorunfemi, Billy Postlethwaite, Daniel Ings, Nathaniel Martello-White and many others. The performances are quite good and the visuals are handled carefully.
‘The Winter King’ is a wonderful retelling of the Arthurian legends. It is directly based on The Warlord Chronicles, written by Bernard Cornwell.
There are 10 episodes in the first season and there is not yet any news of getting a second season. Every episode runs for 50 or 60 minutes. ‘The Winter Soldier’ streams on MGM in the USA and it is an ITVX original.
