Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Toofan’ Gets A New Release Date On Amazon Prime Video

Farhan Akhtar took to social media to announce the new release date of his upcoming sports drama ‘Toofan’. Helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, ‘Toofan’ will now premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 16, 2021.

Akhtar wrote, “With humility, love and in dedication to the fighting spirit of the beautiful people of our nation, our film ‘Toofaan’ will be releasing on July 16th. #ToofaanOnPrime”

‘Toofan’ was earlier supposed to release on Amazon Prime Video on 21st May but was postponed. Farhan Akhtar, who plays the role of a national level boxer in the film, had announced the delay in the film’s release because of the severity of the corona virus at the time.

Originally ‘Toofan’ was meant to release in October 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on a true story, ‘Toofan’ revolves around Ajju Bhai (Farhan Akhtar) who is a petty gangster with a talent for boxing. Fed up of his skirmishes, his lady love, played by Mrunal Thakur, convinces him to utilise his boxing talent for real. How Ajju Bhai goes on to become the unbeatable boxer Aziz Ali and win the World Boxing Championship forms the crux of the story.

Other than Farhan Akhtar and Mrunal Thakur, ‘Toofan’ on Amazon Prime Video stars Paresh Rawal, Hashim Azmi, Vijay Raaz, Darshan Kumar, Suriya Pathak, Hussain Dalal and Dr. Mohan Agashe.

‘Toofan’ is presented by Amazon in association with Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures and has been produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Kassim Jagmagia serves as the co-producer for the film with story and screenplay by Anjum Rajabali. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have composed the music for ‘Toofan’.

Farhan Akhtar‘s sports drama ‘Toofan’ will have a worldwide premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 16th July, 2021.
