‘Farzi’ Trailer: OTT Platform, Release Date, Plot, Cast & More
Two days back, Amazon Prime Video pulled off a smart marketing move when a fake albeit amusing ‘Farzi’ trailer was released by the OTT platform, and it seemed to be in line with the show’s title and theme. The unique marketing strategy created more curiosity and buzz for ‘Farzi’, which will start streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from 10th February onwards.
‘Farzi’ has been directed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK). It’s Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut and also features Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, Amol Palekar, and Regina Cassandra in pivotal roles. After the massive success of ‘The Family Man’, expectations and the pressure on filmmaker duo Raj & DK to deliver another gripping and entertaining series are sky high.
And now, the real trailer of the eagerly anticipated web series ‘Farzi’ is finally out. Until now, a basic outline about the show’s plot was known. Let’s see whether the trailer spills out some more details.
‘Farzi’ real trailer shows Shahid Kapoor as an ambitious, money loving man who hatches a crazy plan to become rich overnight. He essays the role of a small-time artist who uses his very particular set of skills to design a con job in his grandfather’s printing press. But soon after, he is pursued by a relentless cop who is hellbent on putting an end to the high stakes con game. The web series is set against the backdrop of counterfeit currency business and how the brilliant artist cons the system which favours wealthy people.
‘Farzi’ trailer basically introduces major characters and has glimpses of Raj & DK’s trademark filmmaking stamped over it and has the elements of raw humour and some cool writing. But we think it could have still been slightly better and a bit more gripping.
Farzi’ is not the first time Shahid Kapoor has played the role of a con man. Previously, he was seen in Parmeet Sethi’s underrated caper story ‘Badmaash Company’ co-starring Anushka Sharma in the year 2010.
‘Farzi’ is an important project for Shahid Kapoor because his last film ‘Jersey’ failed to attract audiences to the theatres despite his terrific performance and in spite of being a well-crafted film. Let’s see whether the Amazon Prime Video web series ‘Farzi’ will turn the tide for the talented actor or not. We have a gut feeling that it will.
