One of the latest addition to the Fast & Furious franchise, Brie Larson, has spilled some beans on her character in Fast X. In her recent talk with Total Film Magazine, the actor shared who exactly she’s portraying.
“Tess is Mr. Nobody’s daughter,” she revealed. “She is technically Agency, but she’s kind of a bridge, in a way. She doesn’t go along with the way that the Agency’s headed now that her father isn’t there. She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto family, and is fighting for that. Dom knows that she has a strong mind and definitely respects that she’s gone out of her way to talk to him and wants to build trust. What he asks of Tess is a test. Like, if it’s an impossible task, and she can get it done, then that’s family for life.”
Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody first appeared in Furious 7 (2015). Then he also made appearances in The Fate of the Furious (2017) and F9 (2021). In the latter project, he appeared in flashbacks, aiding Han in faking his death. Although, his whereabouts are unknown. Dom’s brother, Jakob, attacked his plane in the last installment. His place crashed, but it was not revealed whether he survived it.
Brie Larson’s addition to Fast X gives a new dimension to Mr. Nobody’s arc in the franchise. She may think her father is dead and look to exact vengeance on the people responsible for her death. And Jakob and Cipher are among them. The former is Dom’s brother, and the latter wants to make the protagonist’s life a living hell. Tess may forgive Jakob for his actions. However, we may witness her going one-on-one with Cipher in the upcoming F&F flick. Or her introduction to the franchise can take Mr. Nobody’s arc in an entirely new direction.
Helmed by Louis Leterrier, Fast X is one of the most expensive movies ever, with a gigantic budget of $340 million.
