Mollywood’s 2019 sleeper hit Helen is getting a Tamil remake, which will be directed Tamil director Gokul, titled Anbirkiniyal. The original Malayalam survival thriller has gone on to spawn multiple other remakes as well – in Hindi, Kannada and Telugu, all of which are in the production stage. But what makes the Tamil version special is that it will feature the father-daughter duo, Arun and Keerthi Pandian portraying the father and daughter on screen for Anbirkiniyal. A new look poster for the movie has been posted on twitter by actor Karthi, who will also feature in the film. Check out the twitter post down below.
In the Malayalam original, Helen, the movie follows a young aspiring nurse named Helen who is trying to migrate to Canada for better job opportunities. Her father, Paul does not wish for his daughter to be so far away from him but doesn’t fully oppose her dreams. Things take an ugly turn when she does not return home from work and suddenly disappears. We expect Arun and Keerthi Pandian to portray the Tamil counterparts for Paul and Helen in the woman-centric Anbirkiniyal, while Karthi will play her boyfriend on-screen.
The film which is being produced by A&P GRoups, wrapped up its shoot just a few days ago. The film director Gokul praised Keerthi’s performance, especially when she was required to work in sets with temperatures under 12 degrees, calling it the highlight of Anbirkinyal. This will also be Arun Pandian’s first film in over 10 years, his last film being 2010’s Virudhagiri. The movie is expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2021.
Happy to reveal the first look of#Anbirkiniyal.
