Filmfare Digital Short Films Winners – Take a Look at Which Films Won Top Honours

With the advent of YouTube and digital films, and with the pace at which these short pieces of delectable content have cemented their place in the content to-see list of everyone, from millennials to boomers to the middle-agers, is it any wonder that digital short films are being recognized at Awards events at the highest level.

For some years now, the prestigious Filmfare Awards have been awarding the best short film in the digital space, along with best actor and actress in a short film. There’s also an audience choice award for best film. This year was no different.

There were almost 20-25 digital films short-listed for the Best Short Film Award from various categories like comedy, drama and horror.

The Best Short Film Award was won by Bebaak— meaning defiant— directed by Shazia Iqbal.
Starring Sarah Hashmi, Vipin Sharma, Sheeba Chaddha and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles, it is a movie about a young economically challenged, but forward-thinking Muslim girl who must clear a scholarship interview with a misogynist cleric of her faith. It is a thought-provoking and defiant movie that cocks a snook at gender discrimination viewed through the lens of one’s faith.
