Kantara will have its digital premiere tomorrow on Amazon Prime Video. That means the highly awaited block buster will be available to watch on Prime from 12:00 tonight. The movie will have audios in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalm and the Hindi dubbed version of the movie will not be released anytime soon because there is a 8 week window given to Hindi films between their theatrical release and the OTT premiere.
Kantara is the biggest industry hit from the Kannada Film Industry this year. Rishab Shetty’s directorial debut has raised the bars for original stories from the Sandalwood. It is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale films. Kantara has collected more than three and a half crores of rupees worldwide and it also made history by making it to the top 250 films list by IMDB.
Kantara tells the story of a fictional village of the same name where Rishab Shetty plays a champion Kambala player who does not go too well with a local forest officer Murali. It is rooted deeply in local culture, mythology and folklore and has deep connections to the stories of yore about human greed and man vs environment conflict. The story of the film is spread in three timelines, 1800s, 1970s and 1990s.
There were rumors of ‘Kantara’ being premiered on Amazon Prime Video for a long time but nothing was official. Today it has been officially announced by both Hombale Films and Amazon Prime Video that Kantara will have its digital premiere tomorrow.
