Droughtlander will finally end soon! Coz the much-awaited new season 6 of Starz’s blockbuster show ‘Outlander’ finally has a release date, much to the delight of the legions of fans of the time-travelling, historical drama series. March 6, 2022 is when Outlander Season 6 will premiere on Starz. Whether viewers in India will get to watch it with the rest of the world is uncertain, and depends solely on the whims and strategies of Netflix. The show streams on Netflix in India. Let’s hope Netflix will stream the Outlander new season as soon as it premieres in the US.
There’s also a bright chance that this time around, Starz will stream Outlander Season 6 on Lionsgate Play, its streaming arm in India, instead of giving the popular property to Netflix. Lionsgate Play can also be subscribed through Is Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop A Sign Of Things To Come? rival OTT platform Prime Video’s Amazon Channels, newly launched in India.
For those who don’t know, ‘droughtlander’ is the oh-so-lovable term used by Outlander fans as they wait out the drought of new Outlander episodes to watch. The series is based on the best selling novels of by Diana Gabaldon. Outlander Season 6 will be based on the sixth book of the Outlander series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
As per Starz, Season 6 will see the Frasers, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan), “continue to fight to protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America.”
The official logline continues, “The Frasers strive to maintain peace and flourish within a society which—as Claire knows all too well—is unwittingly marching towards Revolution. Against this backdrop, which heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a home together at Fraser’s Ridge. They must now defend this home—established on land granted to them by the Crown—not only from external forces, but also from the increasing strife and conflict in the community within their care”.
Interestingly, Outlander Season 6 will only be 8 episodes long, as against the normal 13 odd episodes. The premiere episode, however, will be a humongous 90 minutes long. And of course, we’re delighted!
