Searchlight Pictures revealed release dates for “Fire Island”, “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” and “Not Okay ” today. All three films are exclusive Hulu Originals in the US, while “Fire Island” and “Not Okay” will also stream internationally on Disney Plus.
A modern day romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” Written by and starring Joel Kim Booster, “Fire Island” revolves around two best friends out on a week long vacation with help of a group of cheery friends. Set for a June 3,2022 release, the film features an ensemble cast comprising of Bowen Yang, Margaret Cho, Conrad Ricamora, James Scully, Matt Rogers, Tomas Matos, Torian Miller, Nick Adams and many more.
Directed by Sophie Hyde and written by Katy Brand, “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” stars Academy Award-winner Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack. Yearning for some quirky adventures in her life, a retired school teacher Nancy Stokes (played by Thompson) hires a young sex-worker Leo Grande (played by McCormack). “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” will be released on June 17th.
The third in line is “Not Okay” which is set for an August 5,2022 release. Centred around Danni, an aimless aspiring writer with no social circle and romantic prospects, “Not Okay” follows Danni faking an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris hoping to boost her social media clout. As a turn of events Danni’s popularity skyrockets her into an influencer and advocate, finally fetching the audience she always wanted. However things take an unexpected turn as Danni gets trapped in her own web of lies. The film written and directed by Quinn Shephard, stars Zoey Deutch and Dylan O’Brien in pivotal roles.
Searchlight Pictures also recently revealed Martin McDonagh’s “The Banshees of Inisherin,” starring Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, Brendan Gleeson and Kerry Condon to have a limited theatrical release on October 21st,2022.
