Fans of the cult BBC show ‘Peaky Blinders‘ will be happy to know that the iconic studio is bringing another thrilling drama for eager audiences from Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders. The BBC shared several first look images from the under-production show, and they look cool AF. Titled ‘SAS: Rogue Heroes’, the series will document how the British Army’s Special Air Service (SAS) came to be formed at the height of World War II.
‘SAS: Rogue Heroes’ is being adapted from the book written by Ben Macintyre, acclaimed author of ‘The Spy’ and the ‘Traitor’. For those who are interested in the book, it’s title is—quite a mouthful, mind you—Rogue Heroes: The History of the SAS, Britain’s Secret Special Forces Unit That Sabotaged the Nazis and Changed the Nature of War.
The series will recount the story of a maverick British officer, David Stirling, who, laid up in hospital with an injury during World War II, came up with the idea of forming a secret unit of the toughest and brightest soldiers that could be deployed in game-changing ways in critical situations. The special forces unit proved to be a major hindrance to the march of fascist forces in the World War II.
The official synopsis from the BBC reads:
“Convinced that traditional commando units don’t work, Stirling creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare…More rebels than soldiers, Stirling’s team are every bit as complicated, flawed and reckless as they are astonishingly brave and heroic.”
How cool is that!
‘SAS: Rogue Heroes’ is headlined by rising star Connor Swindells (Adam in Sex Education), who plays David Stirling in the series. Dominic West (The Wire), Jack O’Connell (Skins), Jason Watkins (Line Of Duty) Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy in Game Of Thrones), Sofia Boutella (Modern Love), among others, forms some of the ensemble cast.
