First Look At Netflix’s Adaptation of ‘The White Tiger’

Netflix has released the first look at their latest original adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s award winning novel ‘The White Tiger’. The film finished its production way back in December 16th 2019. American filmmaker Ramin Bahrani who is known for his award winning movies like Chop Shop and At Any Price has penned the screenplay and directed the film.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav are the main stars of the film. Adarsh Gourav will be playing the lead character, Balram Halwai around whom the film will be based on, while Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Rajkummar will play a rich Delhite couple.

The Man Booker Prize winning novel, ‘The White Tiger’ which was published in 2008, revolves around the above mentioned Balram Halwai, a native of Laxmangarh village. The novel (and the film, presumably) follows him from his humble beginnings as he navigates as a driver for a rich Delhi man to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

The story deals with current undergoing problems in India as varied as globalisation, capitalism, caste oppression & discrimination, morality, social & economic mobility, etc. Seen through the eyes of a naive driver, watch as he fights against tyranny and the establishment, and eventually blossoms into a hard-core butterfly.

‘The White Tiger’ is premiering digitally in December on Netflix. The first look of ‘The White Tiger’ featuring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav can be seen below:
