American actor and film producer Nicolas Cage is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy, SAG, and Golden Globe Award, that have landmarked his prolific genre-spanning career that boasts a slate of 100+ movies. What’s more is that his upcoming projects ‘Spider Man Noir’, and ‘Longlegs’ have already sent his fans into a frenzy.
Adding on to that excitement, his fans were in for another treat when the first clip of his new psychological thriller ‘The Surfer’ was released recently. The film follows an Australian ex-pat who buys his family’s beach home only to have to go to war with a group of surfers who claim the beach as their own.
Amidst the sun-kissed sands of a vibrant beachside, the plot seems to unfurl when The Surfer (aka Nic Cage) demands his surfboard ‘Sanctuary’ back from a group of rag-tag surfers after they stole it against the threats of a broken glass bottle.
While backing off did seem in his best interest, the protagonist chose to stand tall against the warnings delivered to him in thick-Australian accents. Coupled with transcendental music and visceral facial expressions, what ensues can only be imagined to be chaotically wild.
Whether he gets his surfboard back or not, the film seems to be an intriguing summertime watch.
