Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is one of the biggest upcoming films of the year. As the title suggests, the film is about Spider-Verse where there can be infinite variants of the teen superhero.
Now, we have the first look of the Mumbai based Spider-Man with the first look at the city. As you may already know, the movie is an animated one, so is the first look. And out of many things westerners associate with India, one is definitely colors.
So we have a pool of bright colors of the skyline of Mumbattan. But, what is Mumbattan?
Just the way Bombay+Hollywood = Bollywood, similarly, Mumbai+Manhattan = Mumbattan.
Strange as it may seem, it is what it is. The first look was illustrated by Felicia Chen and unveiled by Empire Magazine. Also, we have an announcement that Mumbattan will have a key role in the film.
We can find Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy in the poster. However, Spider-Man India is called Pavitr Prabhakar. He gets his power from a Yogi and starts his fight against criminals in Mumbai.
You may remember that the city of Mumbattan is not new and was seen in a trailer. But such bright and vibrant colors are indeed a new addition to the film. Let’s see how well they do justice to the character and the city of Mumbattan.
