First Time In Indian OTT: Republic To Have Director’s Commentary

For the first time in the Indian OTT space and as well as the Indian cinema, in general, a film is set to stream on OTT with incisive commentary from the director. Sai Dharam Tej‘s Republic is the first film to achieve this feat. The film will be made available for streaming on ZEE5 from the 26th of November and the OTT platform has confirmed that the film will be streamed with the director, Deva Katta’s commentary.
Deva Katta will be explaining his point of view and the vision behind conceiving the sequences in Republic.

ZEE5 and the director of Republic, Deva Katta have come up with the commentary keeping this in mind. Deva Katta explains his screenplay in a freewheeling conversation with Editor Praveen KL, screenplay-writer Kiran, and Creative Producer Satish BKR. They talk about the visual timeline of ‘Republic’ in a detailed manner. When the film starts streaming, the audience can choose the option to watch the movie along with the director’s insightful commentary. They can alternatively watch the movie without the commentary.” The statement from ZEE5 read.

We often see the director’s cut with relevant commentary and trivia in Blu-ray disc versions of Hollywood films. Now, ZEE5, and Republic unit appears to be trying something very similar. Deva Katta is regarded as one of the finer screenwriters in Telugu cinema and it would be interesting to watch his motive and conception behind Republic.

Republic is an intense social drama directed by Deva Katta. The film has Sai Dharam Tej, Ramyakrishna, Aishwarya Rajesh, and others in important roles. The film hit the silver screens on the 1st of October, and now, it is set to land on OTT.
