Last year in August, the homegrown e-commerce company Flipkart had launched its own video streaming platform called Flipkart Video. It was launched with an aim to give stiff competition to Amazon Prime Video, the streaming platform of Amazon.com. The rivalry between the two e-commerce behemoths is the stuff of legends in Indian e-commerce circles.
So Flipkart thought, what Amazon does, it can do better, and went ahead and launched Flipkart Video. But unfortunately, Flipkart Video failed to get noticed in the sea of OTT content in India.
Hopefully for the company, all that is about to change. Its latest offering is already generating a sizeable buzz among netizens. Called ‘Zindagi In Short’, the original series, made under the aegis of Flipkart Video Originals, is an anthology of seven short stories, with surprise twists woven into each. The stories are poignant takes on life and its varied realities.
A major attraction of the series is its glittering ensemble cast and crew. Neena Gupta, Shishir Sharma and Srishti Shrivastava feature in the short story, Pinni, directed by Tahira Kashyap, wife of Ayushmann Khurrana.
Divya Dutta and Sanjay Kapoor star in Sleeping Partner. Swaroop Sampat Rawal features in the short story titled Nano So Phobia.
Nakuul Mehta features in the story titled Sunny Side Up, directed by Vijeyata Kumar, alongside Malayalam actress Rima Kallingal, who makes her web debut.
Nidhi Singh, Jitin Gulati, Isha Talwar, Manjot Singh, Aisha Ahmed, Rytasha Rathore and Deepak Dobriyal are some of the other actors who feature in the remaining stories, titled Chhaju Ke Dahi Bhalle, Swaaha and Thappad.
The series is produced by Guneet Monga of Masaan and Lunch Box fame, under her banner, Sikhya Entertainment.
Zindagi In Short premieres on Flipkart Video on 19th February.
