The mere thought of machines replacing humans sends chills down our spines. A similar situation will take place in Garth Davis’ upcoming directional, Foe, starring Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan. MGM has dropped a spine-chilling trailer for the film. The disturbing dystopian sci-fi thriller is just under two months away from arriving in theatres.
Based on Iain Reid’s globally prominent novel (2018), ‘Foe’ tells a futuristic tale of the couple Henrietta (Ronan) and Junior (Mescal). Their happy and peaceful lives get turned upside down after the arrival of a mysterious man at their farm. His name is Terrance (Aaron Pierre), and he claims to represent the government. He arrives there to conscript Junior for a two-year-long space mission to aid humanity in leaving the increasingly inhabitable Earth. However, Junior resists as he profoundly loves Hen and does not want to leave her alone on her own. This forces Terrance to come up with a horrifying idea – a biomechanical clone of Junior will take care of Hen while he’s gone.
This scenario gets more disturbing after Terrance starts digging up the past lives of Junior and Hen to create a perfect clone of the former.
‘Foe’ will be Garth Davis’ third feature directional after Lion (2016) and Mary Magdalene (2018).
Ronan was last seen in ‘See How They Run’, which bombed at the box office despite earning positive reviews from critics. And Mescal’s prominence is augmenting with every passing day. The highly talented Irish actor will also lead Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 and share the screen with the likes of Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou, Pedro Pascal, and more.
Distributed by Amazon Studios, Foe will come out on October 6. Stay tuned for more updates.
