Common people love to peek into the lives of celebrities. It is a known fact and the exponential spread of social media has only amplified this trend. Celebrities love to stay relevant through constant posts and fans get a chance to keep looking at their stars through various pages on social media.
But, there is a clear difference in the way people want to see their celebrities. What works in the USA may not work at all in India. Take for instance The Kardashians.
Their show, one may call it toxic cringe, enjoys an insane popularity. People are crazy over the show and they love to know what those sisters are up to. Even in India, there is a good chunk of people who love to watch the show.
But, Indians may not love to watch the same concept shows when it centres around Indian people. There can be several reasons, including an inferiority complex but they simply don’t like it.
Disney+Hotstar came up with “Moving in With Malaika”. Nobody really moved an inch to watch it. Similar was Hotstar’s “Hansika’s Love Shaadi Drama”. Netflix India’s “Indian Matchmaking” was different but on similar lines.
They are already unsuccessful ventures. Let’s not go into the reasons.
Amidst all this, Prime Video is coming up with “Follow Kar Lo Yaar” which revolves around Uorfi Javed. Not sure who asked for it but it is here nonetheless.
Let’s see what kind of reception it receives but this is certainly not something that matches up with great massey content that Prime Video is actually known for.
