Acclaimed Hollywood actor and two times Oscar Award winner Tom Hanks is reportedly set to make an appearance in filmmaker Wes Anderson’s upcoming movie (via THR). The movie will be Anderson’s next venture after his romantic dramedy festival darling ‘The French Dispatch’. The yet-untitled film will reportedly also feature the trio of Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, and Tilda Swinton, who also incidentally featured in Anderson’s latest film ‘The French Dispatch’. The movie is expected to be shot in Spain. However, nothing much is known about the film’s plot.
Although Tom Hanks’ role is ostensibly expected to be nothing more than a cameo, nevertheless, their cinematic collaboration would certainly be a delight for true blue cinema enthusiasts. And interestingly, this is not the first time the usually selective actor Tom Hanks will feature in a cameo.
Previously, Tom Hanks was famously seen in a fleeting appearance as a British soldier in the highly-rated World War-II miniseries ‘Band of Brothers’. And that episode was directed by Tom Hanks himself. Then, at the end of the Sacha Baron Cohen starrer mockumentary comedy film ‘Borat 2’, Tom Hanks featured in a rib-tickling scene as himself.
Tom Hanks’ last feature film was the brilliantly directed slow-burner Netflix Western drama ‘News of the World’ in which he essayed the role of a Civil War veteran who takes up the job of transporting a little girl to her native place. While he will next be seen in the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama ‘Finch’, Robert Zemeckis’ live-action film ‘Pinocchio’ and Baz Luhrmann’s yet-untitled Elvis Presley biopic movie.
While Wes Anderson’s forthcoming star-studded venture The French Dispatch’ is expected for a theatrical release in October this year.
