We know that the Deadpool star, Ryan Reynolds, is busy promoting his upcoming Netflix release, The Adam Project, these days. This one is also helmed by his Free Guy mate, Shawn Levy. Apart from this movie, he is also a part of Apple’s forthcoming Christmas musical, Spirited, with the directional duo of John Morris and Sean Anders at the helm. Reynolds made Free Guy with Levy last year.
And it surprisingly earned good figures considering the theatre regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film grossed nearly $331.5 million against its $125 million budget. Plus, it surprised everyone with its latest Academy Award nomination for the Best Visual Effects last month. It was solely a 20th Century Fox production.
But the studio’s merging with Disney gave a chance to the makers to leave some fun Disney-themed easter eggs in the movie. Here’s what 20th Century Fox president Steve Ashbell said about Free Guy 2 in a recently released statement:
“There are movies like Avatar, Planet of the Apes, and now Free Guy that have well-established theatrical precedence for a wide audience,” Asbell said. “We have more Avatar movies coming, we have more Free Guy movies coming. We’re going to be pretty busy. We’re awaiting a script that is days away. It’s a fantastic story.”
Reynolds hinted at taking a break from acting some time ago to spend more time with his family. The actor is happily married to Blake Lively and has three kids: James, Inez, and Betty. The on-screen Deadpool also informed that he will shift his focus to those projects about which he is passionate.
“Well, I’ve done a lot of [acting],” the Canadian actor explained. “The biggest thing for me, and I know you have kids as well, is that I don’t want to miss this time with my kids.”
As of this moment, the entire cast for Free Guy 2 has not yet been finalised by the makers. In addition to Ryan Reynolds, we may see Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, and Utkarsh Ambudkar returning to reprise their respective characters in the upcoming sequel.
